windows 2000 server problems

Dave

Hi,

I have installed on my pc windows 2000 server. In every
session i start, some of the right click functions of my
mouse stop working (cut, cut & paste etc...)and the
desktop locks up completely, one other problem that i am
experiencing is that in the main control panel the device
tabs and shown down the left hand tool bar rather than in
the main console window.

To try and resolve these issues i have tried updating the
browser to the latest version and downloading the latest
drivers for my genius netscroll mouse (which has totaly
locked up both the keyboard and mouse altogether,
resulting in formatting the system)

Can anyone please help me solve these issues as i do not
want to upgrade to Windows XP due to having significantly
worse problems using that OS than with this one.

thanks,

Dave.

First off all make up your mind about what you need!
A server or a workstation? I guess you don't care about the price difference
in Licensing.
Second, make sure that mouse is on the Compatibility List!
If it is not you have to get a driver from the manufacturer BEFORE you try
to install your OS.
Generally XP has problems with ODD hardware such as what you can find in old
computers and in a lot of SSDN computers.
