Windows 2000 Server - Missing or corrupt file

Please help me on this error message:

Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt:
<windows 2000 root> system32\ntoskrnl.exe"

how can i get to dos promt to make my changes. I am unable
to use Console for reapir, Ita sking for administartors
password. What password shall I use.
