Windows 2000 Server - Loads No Desktop and Taskbar for Admin.

My business is running a Windows 2000 Server and it is
vital that we can get it up and running. As of now we
must run our server applications via the Task Manager ->
New Task option.

Upon successful bootup - we are shown a blank blue screen
(the wallpaper) and nothing else. No desktop is loaded
and no taskbar is visible.

Could this be a registry problem? Would Windows 2000
Server Rescue disk correct this problem? Any help would be
much appreciated, thanks.

Hi,
did you install the latest security-patch from microsoft on friday?

We have the same problem - and cannot resolve it. We already have
copied dll´s from another system, changed the registry from backup,
but there is still no desktop and taskbar.

Please let me hear if you get an idea ;-(

Rgs, plebeau.

This is how I fixed on my machine: after booting up (into your wall paper
screen) CTRL-ALT-DEL then Taskmanager; Now I can't remember which process it is
but it's one that doesn't belong there (you pry haven't seen it before) Kill it
and you will then continue booting into a normal desktop.

After a while it will fix itself, some sort of booter that gets hung up.
out of all my installs 95,98,NT,2000(pro,Adv),XP it's only happened on one
system and for just awhile (can't remember which)
