Windows 2000 Server installation network adapter hardware requirement?

I have looked high and low for information on whether or not a network
card is a necessary hardware requirement when installing Windows 2000
Server. I believe it is for certain other servers so is this the case
for W2K Server? This is academic as I don't have W2K Server to install.
any help would be appreciated.

No a network card is not a requirement to install the operating system. But
if you plan on running dcpromo and making the server a domain controller then
you will need a network card.
