does Windows Installer run on server 2000?

hi,
i need to install .net 2.0 on a windows 2000 server box.
this requires a windows installer update, which is unclear as to
whether it supports windows server 2000. the official list of
supported operating systems from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c&displaylang=en
are:
"Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows
Server 2003; Windows XP; Windows XP Service Pack 1; Windows XP Service
Pack 2"

does "windows 2000" include windows server? the IT dept in question is
ultra cautious and don't want to try installing it unless it is
officially supported.

Yes, as long as it has SP3 or SP4.
