Windows 2000 root> system 32 ntsokrnl.exe corrupted

Hi,
One of my clients with a Dell Workstation had a
overheating problem mesage and a Dell tech came to
replace the mother board....1st attempt failed due
to "defective replacement board" (so said the hardware
tech) so he returned the next day with another system
board.

My client returned and he told her the OS (Win Xp) was
corrupted.

Now I have to reinstall her system next week.
The OS was fine before the tech did his damage.

Now when it boots up it will not boot to windows and the
message reads, <windows 2000 root> system 32 ntsokrnl.exe
missing or corrupt.

Now WHY does thast say "Windows 2000 root" since it is a
XP Pro OS? Is there a Windows 2000 root in XP? Or could
this be a mistake by the hardware tech who might have
attemted to fix something using a Dell Windows 2000
restore disk? i find no "<Windows 2000 Root>" on XP

Anyone know the answer. ? clearly the tech screwed up
since her OS was fine a day or so before this transpired
and Dell was just replacing her System bard which had a
knownb defect causing an erroneous overheating message?

needless to say Dell had to make good on this but I need
ammunition.
