Windows 2000 professional - terminating at random intervals

Am receiving a message at random intervals
C:\WINNT\system32\lsass.exe has unexpectedly terminated
with status code 128. System closing down. If anyone could
advise what the problem is I would be very grateful?

This seems to be a common problem at the moment as it occurs in many other
threads. Assuming you are running Windows 2000, it is possible you have (or
are being targeted by) the SASSER virus, either on your machine or another
one on your network. Download & install the KB835732 patch from:
