Windows 2000 pro Upgrade ( will my hardware be missing?)

I am going to upgrade my windows 2000 pro to Windows Xp
pro and i want to get rid of my files by going through the
New Installation process will my hardware also be deleted
with the files?

No your hardware won't be disintegrated. Just kidding, actually you can run
winnt32 [/checkupgradeonly
from the \i386 directory to see if Windows XP recognizes and has drivers for
your hardware. If not check the hardware manufacturer's web site for the
driver.

To do a clean install, boot the Windows XP install CD-Rom When you get to
the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions found. After you
delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again restart the pc booting
the CD-Rom to avoid unexpected drive letter assignments with your new
install.
