Windows 2000 Pro Start Up

I can no longer start up my PC. It will not accept my username or password.

I believe one of my kids was fulling around in the Network connections and
reset the sart up domain name. The start up box on that PC does not give me
the option of selecting my domain name as it does on this Windows 2000 Pro
PC.

HELP!!!! PLEASE!!!

Hi, Doug;

Doesn't sound like a Windows Update problem. Suggest you start in Safe
Mode as the Administrator, then reset the user account information on
the default account.

Other than that suggestion, best if you post this in the Win2000
..general newsgroup as you will get more pertinent answers there.

If you don't have the option to log onto the domain, your computer has been
removed from the domain (probably one of your little darlings set it up in a
workgroup). You'll need to know local admin credentials to log in at all
(or, crack the pw if you don't)...but your best bet is to ask whomever
manages your domain to add the computer back into it...this may involve
taking it to your office, but I don't know whether this is a home network or
not....

Then, tell the aforementioned little darlings that they are not to touch
daddy's computer at all, ever. Buy 'em a cheapo Dell Dimension to break.
Might want to image it (Ghost, Acronis) so that when they break *that* one,
it's a simple matter to fix it.

You are right - they did change it to a workgroup mode. I think that they
were trying to get around having to enter a password at start up.

The adnin guy at work does not know the admin password that this was set up
under. Is there any other work around?

And then you can get into the OS, and the admin can join you to the domain,
and you can keep your litttle darlings from touching your computer under
penalty of total or partial decapitation, depending on mood.
