Hi i have just installed W2k over 2000 times on this

it shuts down. then it reboots again. so what am i
supposed to do? before, i updated to sp4 and it didnt do
anything. i know that theres a similar problem with win98.
its called "windows 98 second edition power supplement".
well there should be something like thast for w2k. i hope
someone helps me out here. my electric bill and pc
components are very crucial to me. i will gradly thank the
person who helps me. Thank you.

I'm having the same problem too.
When i tried to restart instead of shutdown, it give an error, something
like ntoskrnl.exe......
It shutdown properly when in safe mode.
Should be some services or software installed having problem with the SP4,
it happened recently, and after i install SP4.

Anyone one any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Well the PC components will probably last longer if you DIDN'T power the
PC on and off all the time. And leaving it on all the time would only
save at best 5 bucks a month. But in the interest of resolving the
problem of shutdown

May not apply, but in my home lan, a Bios setting under PCI devices, it had
a "wake on LAN" actvity option that when set to yes, kept restarting the
computer due to the other computers "polling". At least on both my
computers with the same motherboard, this was the problem. As I stated my
apologies if I misread and this doesn't apply.

Check your BIOS settings for Power Management settings or APM settings,
on some motherboards "AC power loss - Last State" or "AC power loss -
Stay Off" might apply (they don't always do what they appear they SHOULD
do, sometimes they seem to have the opposite effect), and also look for
any Wake on LAN or Wake on Ring and disable them.
