Shut down

I recently installed Windows 2000 on my computer (thank God I no longer use Windows Me!!!). When I try to shut down, Windows forces me to manually close Microsoft Office applications like Outlook or Word before shutting down. Does anyone know how to change this option so that Windows shuts down whether Office applications are open or not?

There are registry keys that control if & how long windows waits for apps to
close before shutting down.
Such as
H_C_U\Control Panel\Desktop\AutoEndTasks
and
....\WaitToKillAppTimeout
as well as
H_L_M\CurrentControlSet\Control\WaitToKillServiceTimeout

You may want to peruse the KB before changing these though............
