Windows 2000 Pro, Local users and Groups missing

Greetings,

I have found an issue with Windows 2000 Professional. The local users and
groups sub-category is missing from the computer management console tree.
Enabling this option via the group policy editor has had no effect on the
issue.
 
It launches successfully, and I can edit the users and groups from that
location.
 
Weird. I have never seen it missing from Computer Management. I don't know a
solution offhand though I would try running System File Checker as in sfc
/scannow to see if that helps. You probably will need the install disk when
you run that command. At least you can still access users and groups. ---
