Hi,
I just replace a AMD athlon 850 MHZ processor on a ASUS
a7V133 motherboard, After I put it in, the hard drive quit
working. I tried to install OS again, the setup won't
complete, ( file copy problem). I've tried different CD-
Rom, different hard drive, different Win2000 CD, tested
memory, all same thing.
Will this be motherboard problem, or more likely, CPU
problem?

Any body has any clue?
I really appreciate your help!

Where this me, I would suspect myself first, that I had either miss-seated
the CPU, or disturbed the IDE cables, or unseated a DIMM.

thanks for the reply!
I just reseated DIMM, changed cable and re-seated CPU.
When Windows setup trying to copy files to hard drive, it
went to blue screen at first.
"STOP. Page_Fault_in_nonpaged_area". Then I restarted the
computer, setup stopped at the same point as before: "The
file cmprops.dll was not copied correctly..." If I skip
this file, there will be lots of other files can't be
copied.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Start with "Bug Check Codes" at
<<http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/ddtools/hh/ddtools/bcintro_3dkj.as
p>>. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA is at
<http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/ddtools/hh/ddtools/bccodes_4qsn.asp
, which reads:
Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or
in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective
RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).

Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.

Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS
volume.

end quote.

Now, I assume that there was a reason why you replaced the CPU, that you
were having problems with this system, and suspected a hardware problem,
specifically the CPU. According to this, you should suspect other problems.
