Windows 2000 File system problem

Ramkumar

I am using Windows 2000 Pro. I deleted the registry key
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive by
accident. Now whenever I open explorer usnig Windows Key
and E, I get the error "Access to the specified device,
path, or file is denied." If I open My computer or My
Documents from the desktop I get the error "This file does
not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an association in the Folder Options
control panel." I can open the Windows Explorer from the
Start > Accessories. When I double click on the drives or
folders, I get the error "This file does not have a
program associated with it for performing this action.
Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."

Please Help

There's no way this happens accidentally. In any case; go to another Windows
2000 machine, run regedit.exe, navigate to the mentioned subkeys, then from
the registry menu File|Export, copy the files to floppy and run them on the
other machine to merge them into the registry.
