Windows 2000 cannot start...

My PC will no longer boot up. I get the error
message, "Windows 2000 could not start because the
following file is missing or corrupt C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32
\Config\System. Both my CD & DVD drives have disappeared
so all I can do is boot WIN 2K from my 4 startup
diskettes. Regardless of what option I choose after I
boot from A: I am told to load my WIN 2K CD. Since both
drives are no longer are recognized by my PC I cannot do
anything. I have also tried the option of using my
emergency repair disk but the system reponds that it is
not the correct disk! I could really use some
advice/instructions on how to get my PC operational.

Thanks,

- What exactly do you mean with "Both my CD & DVD drives
have disappeared"? Stolen? Invisible during the initial
boot phase?
- Have you checked the various cables and connectors for
your CD/DVD drives?

Before you can address the Windows 2000 problem, you
have to resolve your CD/DVD problem. This is a hardware
issue that your dealer may have to help you with. I suspect
that the two problems are related, seeing that they occurred
at the same time.
