After i loaded window xp i was asked to update windows so
i did. Now everytime i start or restart window it takes
about 1 min upto 1 1/2min. to get to my desktop what can
i do to speed this up. At first everything loads quickly
now it take awhile. I don't understand why.

A couple of possibilities. First, make sure your system is defraged. I've
found the while xp is definately the best OS Microsoft has released to-date,
my system seems to slow down once in a while. Defragging fixes it up. It
seems to me that XP is somewhat more prone to slowing down due to fragmented
disks than previous releases. That's my experience anyway.

Secondly, make sure your virus protection is up to date. A virus will slow
you down to a crawl.

And third, if those don't work, try using system restore. Restore your
system to a point in time before you started experiencing the slow downs.
MS usually does a good job on their updates, but have been known to cause
problems under specific situations.

Hope that helps.

Hi Manny,

Bootvis is a Boot performance trace visualization tool for use with Windows
XP systems. It gives a graphical view of what processes are doing what and
when during boot and allow you to optimize your boot up. To download go to:
