Window Mail missing in Vista Ultimate

I've recently installed Vista Ultimate as an upgrade to XP Home, and all went
well. One problem, though: Windows Mail seems to be missing.

The folder is there, but the only executables it contains are "wab.exe,",
"wabmig.exe," and "WindowsMailGadget.exe."

(I put a screen shot of the directory at
http://kantor.com/images/windowsmail.jpg.)

I thought the latter must be Windows Mail, but double clicking it does
nothing. Further, Windows Mail didn't appear on my list of programs.

I'm at a loss. Any ideas why my executable isn't there? (And yes, I'm even
viewing hidden files, just in case.)

Thanks for any help!

You need to download the installation from Microsoft. It is a free program.

might want to try a REPAIR install of vista to see if it restores your WM.

Go into Control Panel/Default Programs/Set Program Access and Computer
Defaults, select Windows Mail and be sure the radio button "Enable access to
this program" is checked.

That's very strange.

If the other suggestions don't work, you can also try System File Checker.

Run a cmd window as Admin and then

SFC /scannow

and see if that fixes it.

I'm all set. I had to change things in Set Program Access and Computer
Defaults, and it appeared. Odd, but I'm happy that it worked.

You know it might have been there and it was marked hidden. Just a guess.
