Open one IE window and manually resize it to fit your
needs (do not use the maximize button but drag the window
edges to where you want them). Then close the window.
IE will now remember the last used window size !

Appreciate your quick response. I wasn't very clear in
my original post. My actual problem is this:
When I open IE initially it opens up maximized. However,
if additional windows are opened from links on a page,
they don't open maximized. These are the same links that
opened maximized a few days ago. It appears that all
windows opened from a link are all opening up downsized.

Open such a link.
Don't use the maximize button.
Stretch the edges/corners so that the window fills the screen.
Close all other IE windows.
Close the stretched window.
