WinDefend Service fails to start!!

Using the Administrator account on my standalone PC with Win 2000 and all SPs
installed and Antivirus diabled, I am unable to complete installation of
Windows Defender because WinDefend service won't start. Any ideas anyone to
resolve this?

Try to start it, then go to your event log and lets see what it notes in the
application event log about what happened. That will help narrow it down a
lot.
