When we start up computer ( Dells Windows XP Home) no matter if internet is up or not an error message (Windows explorer has to shut down.) appears. It doesnt affect internet access or seem to affect other functions within the computer, however it always appears. Also the hour glass is also always showing next to the cursor as well. We did install a Canon Digital camera program recently but I am not sure if this has affected the problem . Please can anyone help.

I have the same problem< ie: windows explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close, also sometimes when users log on some icons don't appear to
load in the notification area as usual but they show as running processes in
the task manager, activities varies when this occurs< ie: ftp file tranfers,
disc cleanup/defrag utilities, messenger etc.
winxp home, sp1,updates/windows/virus defs
thanks
