Winamp/scratchy sound

everytime I scroll on a webpage while I am using my
winamp, I hear a scratchy sound. it's really irritating
and has been going on for a while. What is this
scratching sound and how do I make it stop?

Have you checked to see whether WinAmp is using Wave Out or DirectSound
output? Try switching from one to the other or adjusting your buffer
settings. Also, which version of WinAmp are you using? This may have been
fixed in a later build. To check your output settings just hit CTRL+P with
WinAmp active and check the settings under Plug-ins - Output.
