Win98 -> WinXP Upgrade Problem

Hi people

I have just done an upgrade from Win98 SE to Win XP Pro using an academic
version and everything went fairly good , except for one small problem.

I am unable to get my anti virus to work with the resident protection , I can
get it loaded into the sys tray with a red "X" through it and when I open it ,
the options for email , file and floppy boot sector monitoring are turned ON
, but the icon in the sys tray says that they are turn off.

How do I get to turn on the resident monitoring ?

I am using Vet Anti Virus 11.9.1.0

Thanks.

Hello,

I hope I can help. I am unaware of this anti-virus pgm, Norton Had the same
issue that you are having with your version, Norton came out with a fix. You
may want to search the knowledge base of your anti-virus pgm to find a fix,
or once you are on the internet do a Live update of your anti-virus pgm, it
may download a fix.

Good Luck

Try re-installing VET/ETrust.

Thanks ,
I tried to do a live update , but because I have done one recently , it
wouldn't do another update.
It looks like I will have to search the Vet web site for a patch.

The Vet anti virus program is an Australian product that has been taken over
by a US company , it's a very good AV program , it's simple and efficient and
doesn't mess with your system like NAV does.

I have though about doing a re-install of Vet , but the thing is that I have
been doing live updates for abut 11 months and I am due to renew my license.

It looks like I may have to do a re-install.

Most antivirus programs are specific to classes of operating systems (95
through ME vs NT through XP), since they work at a fairly low level.

In the case of Norton 2002, it was absolutely required to uninstall before
upgrading to XP and re-install after upgrading to XP.

Even though I used the same CD, apparently different DLLs were installed
under XP than under 98, and some of the directory structure was also
different.

Your antivirus might require a similar uninstall/reinstall.

I also had to do this to Easy CD Creator (version 6), plus add some patches.
Norton did not require patches, only the re-install.

You can still re-install it - takes only a few minutes!
