Win98 to XP upgrade -- lost MS Office Desktop Icons

D

David Wilson

Recently upgraded an old emachines 333cs from win98 OE to Win XP home.
Mostly satisfactory, but my desktop icons for Word, Excel and Publisher (all
2000) turned to generic program icons. Any way to get the real program icons
back?

David;
Do the icons work?
If not, you can go to All Programs, find what you want on the Desktop, right
click and choose the option Send to Desktop.

Otherwise you may need to reinstall Office.

Before reinstalling you should take this to one of the Office newsgroups:

Right-click on the icon, choose Properties, then Change Icon.
Search the exe file for the program for the icon you want.
