Win98 to Win XL & Excel

I moved my Excel files to my new XP Computer and Excel
will not open any of my files. I get the message: File
format is not valid. What is the problem?

I hate to ask, but have you installed Excel on your new XP Computer? If your
sole intent is to read the files, then you can get by with a free download
of an Excel Reader. Windows is only an operating system.

Have you installed Excel on your new computer? If you expected
Excel to come with Excel XP, sorry to tell you that neither
Windows XP nor any other version of Windows has ever come with
Excel nor with any other significant application software.

If you want Excel, you need to buy it, either alone, or as part
of Microsoft Office.
