Mr Steave Winograd said there is no problem in sending
net send messages to a windows 98 computer from XP. Well,
help! I can't. I've configured my computer for file
transfer and games(IPX) and it can't send net send. Only
winpopup works, from windows 98. Net send sais it sent
the message, but nothing happens, not even trough
broadcast(net send *).
Also, my 98 computer works fine while browsing the xp
computer, but not the other way around. The xp computer
has a low speed while browsing, very low.
Please email me.

It really does work, just like I said, using the TCP/IP protocol
between Windows 98 and XP. I don't know whether it works using
IPX/SPX.

I start WinPopup on Windows 98, then I go to a command prompt on XP
and enter these lines:

net send win98 "hi there"
net send * "hi there"

where "win98" is the computer's name. In both cases, the message
appears in WinPopup on win98, and I can send a message back to XP
using WinPopup.

Make sure that you start WinPopup on win98 before sending any messages
from XP. Make sure that there isn't a firewall program on win98
blocking access from XP.
Also, my 98 computer works fine while browsing the xp
computer, but not the other way around. The xp computer
has a low speed while browsing, very low.
