My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:
is it possible to make win95 games (command and conquer) work on a
system running Win XP?

Find, right click the exe, select properties, compatibility mode, and set it
for Windows 95...

If that doesn't work and you really want to play it:

DOSBox, a x86 emulator with DOS:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/

That app has a bit of a learning curve but is generally pretty easy to get
going after a few minutes of work.

I don't know anything about that specific game, but in general the answer is
that it depends on what game it is.

Some will run under Windows XP without doing anything special. Others will
run if you run them in compatibility mode. Some won't run at all.

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but....

I'm a bit of a novice myself...

I'm wondering if I can run ALL my Windows 95 and Windows 98 stuff the
same way.

????

I recently happened across a rummage sale in my apartment building.
Many of the residents work for Microsoft, some for Boeing, etc.

I got Visual Basic, Visual C, all sorts of stuff, including Advanced
Math, Algebra, Calculus, etc.

MOST of it is for Windows 95.

My son (who I got the stuff for) is a GENIUS who is a budding computer
engineer. He did about 5 back flips over these several DOZEN disks
before we realized they are Windows 95 stuff.

Without partitioning and putting 95 or 98 on the 2nd partition, JUST
to run the special educational/programming/engineering s/w so he can
learn it, it would sure be nice if XP Pro would EMULATE.

I'll try the program you referred to and get back to ya!

If it works, MANY DONKEYS!!

It should work like a champ actually. Without partitioning etc? Pfft... Grab
a copy of <insert your favorite flavor of VM here> and have at it instead.
DOSBox rocks actually, when ever I come across an app that I can't get to
work (even with the advanced settings) I use that and I've not had it fail
here yet. So far so good...

About this DOSbox, it says it will let you run classic programs on windows
or whatever, but does this also work for newer games, for example call of
duty 2?

DosBox only works for DOS games, COD2 is a WINDOWS game.

Yup, only DOS games...
