I found a Website with MS Upgrades for Windows

This site has mostly upgrades and patches from MS for Win95, 98, ME, and
2000, but there is some XP ones too. I dont know how legitimate the
stuff is, but I thought I'd post it. There are a lot of tricks and
other things too.

Then again, I just figured out that to download one Terabyte using a 56K
modem, would take about 4.6 years.......

When you get broadband, it's the monthly cap that would
matter more, to your 1TB project. With satellite Internet
with a 2GB per month cap, it might take you forty years to
finish. Without exceeding the cap.

Your dialup may be slow, but I bet nobody thought of capping it
You should work out how much you could get, if you tied up
the line all month doing downloads. And compare that to the caps
some of the wireless broadband solutions have.

If you wanted, you could get two telephone lines, and
use one for download all the time. The other for ordering
pizza

You can also do MLPPP with dialup, but I'm not sure about
what the restrictions would be. With three phone lines,
one to order pizza and two with dialup modems running MLPPP,
you could have double the aggregate download rate.

Maybe I can get 100 phone lines. I can get around 5kbs on one dialup
line, so if I got 100 lines and witred them all together, I'd get
500kbs, which is what I average on most of the better local WIFI spots.
That dont include one WIFI spot where I'm lucky to get 10kbs. That's
damn near dialup.

If there is a 2GB per month cap, I'm in big trouble. Just yesterday I
downloaded around 4GB at a WIFI. It took a few hours, but I got the job
done. The last time I was there, I got 5.3GB in one sitting.

But since my goal is to download the entire internet, I will need a
really fast connection and at least three or four 1TB drives.

When I was on dialup, the fastest I was able to download was a MB in
three minutes, so that would put a theoretical limit of about 480MB a
day, or about 14GB a month.

Lets see, thats 1,000,000 divided by 180 (seconds).
That works out to about 5555.6 bps or 5.5kbps. That's not too
shabby....

I just downloaded a file at 4.6kbps - connected at 42667 bps on Win98.

Most of the time I get 5.0 kbps or less. I have hit around 7 kbps on
rare occasions.
