There are apparently quite a few variants of this, since something
similar was posted only for the Win.32.Trojan-121 virus. In either
case, you need a current antivirus installed using updated definitions.
Don't have one? Get one ASAP. Update it and then scan in Safe Mode. You
will probably have to disable the trojan from starting - do that by
removing the startup entry with msconfig. Otherwise, if your posting
name reflects your true beliefs, the best thing to do would be to take
the machine to a good local computer repair shop and have them do it
for you. Have them install a firewall, also.

Thanks Malke, my posting name dosen't so much reflect my beliefs more my lack of knowledge on all things modern.
I have aquired the latest version of Avast ant-virus and will run a thourough check in safe mode.
Could you explain a bit more please about 'removing the startup entry with msconfig'.

Sure - Go to Start>Run and type "msconfig" without the quotes. This will
get you into the System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab.
You want to uncheck any unnecessary items there, and of course you want
to stop the trojan from starting, too. Also look on the Services tab.
This isn't the best place to disable Services usually, but it should
show if the trojan has insinuated itself there and you can disable it.
Here are links to help you look up the names of things you find on the
Startup tab and to explain services/processes in XP:

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm
http://www.blackviper.com/

After you've unchecked those boxes, click Apply and OK out. When you
reboot you'll get a message saying you've used the System Configuration
Utility - just check the box that basically says "don't bother me about
this again".

So, give the cleanup a try. That's OK if you don't love modern stuff;
although I'm one of those geeks that thinks having more computers in
the house than people is A Good Thing, I also love my ancient manual
typewriters. However, if you have trouble setting your computer right,
don't feel bad about taking it to a good professional. Sometimes
cleaning a computer can be quite tricksy and it is easier to just let
someone else do it. ;-)

Cheers,

Malke
