Win2K3 ES and Windows Installer

B

Brian D. McGrew

Good afternoon all, someone please help me out here!

I'm running Win2K3 Enterprise Server with Serivce Pack 1 on a white box
machine. Up until the last couple of days I've had no problems whatsoever
but I recently tried to install a new retail box copy of MS Office 2003 in
administrative mode (setup /a) on the machine and came up with an Error 1719
Windows Installer could not be contacted.

I've searched the net high and low trying to find a resolution to this
problem. Microsoft's website gives some interesting insight but no fixes as
of yet. I've double checked all the permsions and settings for the SYSTEM
user, settings and permissions for DCOM and even gone so far as to remove
and reinstall the Windows Installer service but all to no avail!

After three days I'm have the same problem. Can anyone shed some light on
this for me?

Thanks,

-brian
