Win2K - Slow Boot

Windows 2000 is slow to boot up - takes about 5 mintes.
Suspect that it might be running a disk check everytime it
boots. Any ideas speed up booting appreciated.
System is P3 600, 384Mb RAM, Seagate 17Gb hard drive.

Is it a domain controller? If its not plugged into a hub or switch at least,
windows will take a really long time to boot as well.
