win2k severe slowdown - 20X slower

R

robert rowntree

app. server used to startup in 12 seconds now takes 3 minutes?

i ran adaware and spybot.

i defrag'd all NTFS dyn. disks

could NOT run full AV due to slowdown.

ran SySoft Sandra on disk and file system and it looks normal
about 28M/sec to 48M/sec for UDMA 100 drives

i tried running "Fast" emergency repair of win2k. using an ERD
diskette from 1 month ago.

i uninstalled and reinstalled my video drvrs a couple of times ( ATI )

i unin and rein my mainboard drivers for AMD and VIA

NOTHING WORKED.

Im getting ready to do a re-install of the OS over the top with out
"Creating the Primary Partition again". I dont want to touch the
primary because i hava lot of dynamic NTFS partitions in the Extended
partition and dont have PMagic.

Is a re-install likely to solve this or NOT?
Will i have to redo all my apps after a re-install in place?
