win2k pro upgrade

Hi all, we are about to purchase WinXP Pro upgrades for a bunch of our
office PCs that all currently run Win2k Pro. All of them have their OEM
sticker on the CPU with the Win2k license. Unfortunately we are unable to
find any of the original CDs that came with the computers. What I would like
to do is perform a clean install of Windows XP i.e. format drive and
install. Will the WinXP Upgrade CD let me do this? Or will it ask for
original CDs? Also even if I were able to locate an original CD, more than
likely it is in some proprietary image format that can only be read by the
Dell System Re-installer software or something like that.

What options do I have to do a clean install?

TIA!

If you plan on upgrading more than five computers to Windows XP Pro,
it would be best to purchase the Volume License (VL) version.
You can perform a clean install without a previous W2K CD since VL
is a "Full Version".

Carey, thanks for all the info. But I am presuming the VL version which I am
presuming is Open License? I would be paying for the full version which
would be more than an upgrade license?

thanks!
