Win2K Pro Install Failure/Errors

Hello,

I am attempting to perform a 'clean' dual-boot install on
a new Maxtor 60gb HDD, connected to a Promise Ultra66 PCI
card on the Motherboard.

After partitioning the HDD using Win98's FDISK and
formatting each partition with the FAT32 file system, I am
able to sucessfully install Win98SE to the primary 'C'
drive. After intial boot into Win98 (without need to
provide the Ultra66 drivers), I then 'update' the "Mass
Storage Device" drivers with the latest files from
Promise, hence the Win98 O/S is not longer running in 'DOS
Compatibility Mode' upon start-ups.

When attempting to install Win2K Pro to the next 'logical'
partition, the Win2K setup gets as far as checking my
computers config. and loads drivers etc at which time I
reach a blue screen error as follows:

"STOP: 0x00000023 (parameter, parameter, parameter,
parameter)

Address (parameter) base at (parameter), DateStamp
(parameter) - fastfat.sys" ... and so on.

I have tried various HDD partitioning scenarios, i.e.
partitioning the intended Win2K install partition with the
NTFS file system (using the latest version of
PartitionMagic 8.01) yet the same scenario occurs except
the blue screen error message refers to the NTFS.sys.

I have searched the Win2K 'Knowledge Base' at the
suggestion of Microsoft's Tech. Support Staff and whilst
the 0x00000023 error message is mentioned, the
suggested 'solution' does not apply.

Should anyone be able to assist I would be most grateful.

Thanks!

I have the same problem except that I am not installing a
mass storage device. Just installing W2k on my humble
10GB drive. One other different detail is that there is a
file identified at the end of the STOP message and it is
CDFS_FILE_SYSTEM.

If anyone can lend a helping hand, I am very appreaciated.
