One of the computers on my Novell 4.11 network has, for the 2 weeks or so,
started to occasionally lockup when clicking on the down arrow in the
address bar. It has hapened most recently:
1. While in Word Pefect (v8) saving a document to the network. The user
clicked on Save As then went to switch a network drive using the down arrow
in the address bar. The computer locked up tighter than my prom date (yea,
it was twenty years ago, but I'm still bitter). Ctrl-Alt-Delete did not
respond!
....THE NEXT DAY...
2. While in MS Word (Offk2 sp3) saving a document to the network. The user
clicked on Save As then went to switch to a network drive using the down
arrow in the address bar. The computer locked up tighter than my prom date
(I know, I know! Get over it already). Again,Ctrl-Alt-Delete did nothing.
At this point I was thinking she is not that important to get this wrapped
up about, then I remembered I am a network admin with a job to do. So I
started thinking about the computer and was leaning toward my network client
(Novell 4.9sp1), or Symantec AntiVirus (Corp edition V8). Then it happened
again...
3. While browsing the net, the user used the down arrow in the address bar
to go to a previously visited website and...prom time!
I have disabled Norton to see if thats it, but any suggestions would be
appriciated.
