Win2k install Repair

K

Ken

Hi,

I've had a crash of my boot sector over the weekend.

I've tried to recover the system, but for some reason my
emergency disk isn't working.

When I try to have the Win2k install program do the locate
the currewnt Win2k installed to repair, it comes back that
it can not find a win2k that needs repairing.

Is this due to Win2k install not being able to determine
that the system requires repairing, or not able to find my
current installation?

Any suggestion as to what I can try?

Thanks for any help

That means it cannot find the installation

First off...be sure the drive is correctly detected in the bios...
there's a possibility the settings were lost

otherwise...

try this: boot from the cd and enter the recovery console

there are two commands that you could try:

fixmbr

fixboot

Jetro

It seems like a partition table is lost. Can you load RecoveryConsole (when
you load setup from CD, there is an option 'repair manually') and run
chkdsk?
