Win2k home ICS problem

Mike Hood

Apologies as I'm sure this must have been asked plenty of times before;
can't see any live thread, though!

My small home LAN (192.168.1.x) has a broadband connection on a Win2k Pro
box that I want to share out (to XP Pro PCs, as it happens).

However, all the web sites that I've come across in my research on this say
that the IP address of the W2k machine's NIC will be forcibly changed to
192.168.0.1 when ICS is set up. Does anyone know of a way of avoiding this,
letting me keep the current address? I understand this is possible for XP -
is it for 2000?

Many thanks.

If I remember correctly, I did that (using 192.168.1.x). I used to have a article talking about that but can't find it. I believe that key is enabling the IP router.
