The size of the registry in one of my Windows 2000 server keeps increasing
and started causing some problems and now I’m not able to update the MS
Windows as well as not able to install any software on the server. Anyone has
any idea how to take care of this problem. Thank you in advance for your time.

Hi Mosen,
Check for viruses on your system using trendmicro.com online virus scan and
spyware using spyware doctor or adaware from lavasoft.
Do a Windows xp pro parallel installation. Make sure it is on the partition
different than the original installation. Boot through the parallel
installation and go to c:\winnt\system32\config folder and copy the system
file(without any extension) to c:\systembackup folder to make sure you have
the backup of this file. Then, go to start->run->regedit. Select
hkey_local_machine. Click on the file tab and select 'load hive' option. Now
locate the c:\winnt\systm32\config folder and select the system file. Name
the key as test. After this key gets loaded, select it and then click on the
file tab and click on 'unload hive' option. Now, your system registry will be
amputated of all the registry corruption. If you face some problems, You can
again boot into the windows xp pro parallel installation and then copy the
system file from the c:\systemback folder to the c:\winnt\system32\config
folder.
