Last week, I downloaded the latest updates from Microsoft,
and suddenly my sound card stop playing (I lost the icon also
in the tray).
I tried to re-install the drivers but windows give me the
message that no drivers can be found for the sound card (although
I know its there). I looked at Microsoft's site, download also
a (critical update) patch that would fix this situation
(Microsoft says that there is a problem when the driver already
exists in the default inf directory after installing a very
specific update). I tried to re-install the driver again
unsuccessfully (with the same error messages).

Does anyone knows how to install my card again?

Never download driver updates from Windows Update - always get the driver
from the manufacturer. Get the latest audio card driver from the mfr. and
try installing it in device manager.
