Win03 R2 Print Cluster

Hi, I have the following setup: Print Spooler as a cluster resource behind a
Firewall. Open ports TCP 137,139,445 and UDP 137,138,445 between end user
network (which has the printers) and the print server.
I can print to some of the printers without any probelm. Some other printers
does not work and generates event ID 6161. Is there any spicial port I need
to open between the print Server and the Printer?? Note: When i use
PortQry.exe it can resolve the printer name for the working printers and
fails for the non-working printers.

Are you using hostnames or static addresses? Since the portqry tool also
fails to the non working printers, this would appear to be a network problem
rather than a spooler issue.

Is the 6161 error
Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 2250. This network
connection does not exist.

I agree with you Alan, It's a network related as the same printer can print
to other printers without any probelms.

I can assure you that it's matter of port that is not opened, is there is
any port list I need to consider for Print servers and printers??

Out bound to the devices are all opened so nothing is required there unless
the route to the device has a firewall. If there is some Bi-Directional
software installed on the print server from the manufacture that is waiting
for data then you would need to contact the printer vendor for that port
info.
