When I left my house today, my computer was running
perfect and it was in the midst of burning a CD. When I
came back home, my computer was stuck in a faulty boot
loop. The only way I could recover, I thought, was to
format my hard drive and start from scratch. However,
after formatting I've tried installing Win XP Home, Pro,
and Server 2003 Standard with no luck. Each version will
start to copy files to the hard drive but then stop on
the same file each time saying that it couldn't transfer
the file. Also, only on the XP Pro disc, it won't
reformat the drive citing drive damage but the others
will with no problems. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have bad sectors on your hard drive. Try going to the web
site of your HD manufacturer and try to download a drive test utility, or
boot to Windows XP disk and use repair utility option to do a chkdsk /r to
check the drive integrity.
