All,

If I reboot my computer running Win XP SP2, why does the Win XP Update
Yellow Icon Shield appear indicating updates are being occurring but they
don't occur and it slows up the boot process significantly? The computer
has all updates except IE 7 and I manually turned that off.

Thanks,

Would you be using Windows Defender? It updates it self using the Window Update software and shows
the shield.

Richard,

Thank you for the quick reply. I do use Windows Defender but I run it
manually (have it set to manual in services, it does not run automatically -
maybe this makes no difference?)

Thanks,

Nospam
