Since installing WinXP SP2, I keep losing my LAN connection if I am not
accessing contantly. It is like it goes to sleep. I turnoff the firewall,
but no change.

I am logged into a Win 2000 Domain contoller.
Have never had this problem before. Problem is not occurring on other
computers logged into same server.

Any ideas???
Thanks

You might in addition to turning off the firewall turn off the firewall
service. Also, in your connection properties, select TCP/IP properties,
general tab, advanced button, Options tab, TCP/IP filtering properties
button, Check Enable TCP/IP filtering, then select Permit All on all the
protocols.

This last interestingly is consistently set to Permit Only on my two
SP2s when the firewall is disabled.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. LAN just stops working too since I
installed SP2 on my Compaq Presario Laptop. But I also installed SP2
on my desktop but didn't have any problems there. I disabled firewall
on my laptop, and switched off the monitoring facility. Also checked
TCP/IP settings as mentioned and made sure it's on Permit All. But
problem still there. Where can I switch the Firewall Services from?
Control Panel? I'm wondering if this could be a hardware conflict
problem between my Network Port on my Laptop and SP2, appreciate your
help. Thanks, OliverZ

I have not got my laptop handy but a similar thing happened to me and I
disabled the firewall which if I remember right will be automatically enable
by sp2 (sorry it's christmas, drinking time). Also check the wireless
connection properties and see if the option to allow access to the wireless
point is checked....
