How to create a LAN Connection

S

Sudo

Hi,

I installed Win XP Pro onto an existing PC. The installation was OK, except
I cannot connect to the LAN. There is a 1394 Connection which is "enabled"
and "connected". However I cannot create a new LAN connection. I follow the
"Create a New Connection" wizard, but here is no new connection. Unable to
connect to Internet.

The account I am using is an admin, with no password. The firewall is on.

Please help.

Thanks,
Sudo

After you installed XP, did you install the latest drivers for all your
hardware? If you have an ethernet connection you'll need to install the driver
for your network adapter. Check Device Manager (Right click My Computer ->
Select Manage from the menu). Odds are you'll see a yellow exclamation point
next to several entries.

Check the computer manufacturer's web site for a support section. You should be
able to download the drivers you need from that site.

If you need able finding the correct drivers, post back with the make and model
# of your computer.

Good luck

Hi
1394 is Not a LAN Ethernet device, it is the Firewire connector.
You either do not have a Network Card, or the Network Card's
Drivers/Configuration are Not working.
Maybe this can Help, http://www.ezlan.net/debug.html

I have a similar problem as described in the post earlier. I'm using a
Thinkpad R51 Model 2889 type Y11. I went to the Lenovo site
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-55029.html and downloaded the
wireless and ethanet drivers but still have yellow question marks in my
device manager. In addition, there is an unknown device that i cannot figure
out what it is. Can somebody help please?

Thanks in advance
