I have just downloaded and installed Service Pack 2 for
Windows XP. (I am running Windows XP home.)
All appears fine except ...
My printer which is connected via the USB port no longer
prints and USB response in general appears very slow (my
digital camera which I plug into the USB port no longer
triggers the download software automatically either).
My printer is a Canon MPC190. I have uninstalled and
reloaded the drivers for the printer and this has made no
difference. When reinstalling the printer, the software
detected its presence OK but it comes up with the
message "Unable to communicate with the device. Please
start 'MPService' from the services applet in the Control
Panel ..." When I check the service it is actually
running and does not need restarting.
When I check the USB device under Device Manager, it
registers that MPC190 is attached and when I unplug and
replug in the USB cable, I get the sound confirmations
registering the disconnection and connection.
I have tried resintalling the USB drivers too, but with
no success.
What do I do now?
Kind regards ... Michael Willemse
