Hi, well I was completely unaware that if you decide to
repair Windows XP Professional with another Windows XP
Professional disc than what came with it you need an
entirely new key code. I find this to be quite arbitrary.
It's already a licensed product and installed on the
system what is up Microsoft's ass that they have to screw
me all the time. If anyone knows how to work around this
stupid little quirk please help. Send an e-mail to my e-
mail address if at all possible.

something sure doesn't sound legit here.....me thinks the pirated copy won't
update, etc......

That is not quite correct. The situation you describe will happen if
the disk you used is from a different type of Windows XP Pro
distribution. There are several different types of Windows XP Pro
distribution and the product keys for each type are tied to that
specific type of disk.

Among the different types of Windows XP Pro distribution are:
- Generic OEM version
- BIOS locked OEM version
- Retail Upgrade version
- Retail Full Install version
- Multiple License version.

The situation that you describe will happen if you try to use the
product key from one of these versions with a CD from a different
version, such as using an OEM key for a Retail Upgrade version.

Hope this explains the situation.

Good luck
