Win XP Pro 'Welcome Screen' Problem

Hi,

You know the windows classic logon prompt? Last night when I went to
shut down my computer, I saw that windows had mysteriously switched to
the classic logon prompt instead of the 'welcome screen'. It was
fine that morning, using the 'welcome screen' as normal. But now I
can't figure out how to get it to use the welcome screen again.
I've tried switching the 'welcome screen' off and back on in the
user accounts section, but it doesn't help at all. I even tried a
system restore to about three days ago. I was wondering if anyone knew
how I could go about fixing this...

Thanks,

Dan

Make sure the following key value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

UIHost REG_EXPAND_SZ logonui.exe

is set in the registry.

Also check to see what your Appearance is set to in Control Panel | Display
| Appearance.

The other place to check for effects is Control Panel | System | Advanced
Tab | Performance | Settings
and check what is set.

Visual Settings on windows and buttons, I belive, should be set.
