my machine has been fine and all of a sudden when i turn
it on it gives me a screen saying that it didn't start
successfully and and i can choose from several options

1 safe mode
2 safe mode with networking
3 safe mode with command prompt
4 last known successful satrt settings
5 normal start up

i've tried them all and the maching just resarts after i
see the xp logo for a few seconds

i've read other posts and tried their suggestions

i can't boot from the cd to repair
i've reset my bios to default again
i've tried F8 to start in safe mode - still doesn't work

i really need to get my pc working as i have work for
some websites i'm doing and can't reformat

i can only access the internet through a spare hard drive
to post this message

Why can't you boot from the CD to run a Repair Install? What happens?
Since you haven't backed up your work, be smart - slave the hard drive
in another machine and copy the data off to burn onto a cd-r. If you
can't do this yourself, take the machine to a good local computer shop
(not a CompUSA or Best Buy store) and have them rescue your data. Then
they (or you) can check your machine without worrying about losing your
stuff. After you get everything fixed, learn to back up because
problems like this will *always* happen with computers.

as i said i tried to reboot from my cd to to a repair but
it doesn't get to that point.

i set my bios to boot from cd but it starts to load the
os as mentioned before and give me the error screen and
the different options and just loops and reboots itself

any other suggestions/ fixes

thanks
