Win XP Pro and OE6

R

Robin Busch

I just installed Win XP Pro and it deleted all of my emails and all of my
email folders. Is there anyway at all to restore them? They are not on the
computer anywhere that I can find, I checked .dbx files and they are old
ones from a previous crash that I had.

What do you mean by "I just installed Win XP Pro"? Is this a new install
or an upgrade from another version of Windows?

Hope this helps.

My emails to my post aren't going thru now. Can anyone tell me how to find
the hidden .dbx files?

Do you have a new folder on your desktop containing a lot of DBX files?

Tools > Options > Maintenance > Store folder will reveal the location of
your current Identity's store. Write it down.

In WindowsXP, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as
hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files
and Folders under Start > Control Panel > Folder Options > View.

In Explorer, search for .DBX files. Any found which are not located in your
current store will most likely be those from your OE5 Identity. You can
Import them using File>Import>Messages....
