Walter R.

I have burned some data (only) on CDs. I would like to set up the CD so that
the contents open automatically when the CD is inserted in a CD drive with
or without WinXP support.

Can WinXP arrange for this autostart feature or do I need a special program
like "Autoplay Menu" ?

Thank you

Hi,

This utility here will reset the autoplay defaults:
ftp://12.107.147.141/WinXP%20Autorun%20fix/

Just copy it to your system and double-click it to run.

Walter R, do not downlaod this file.
It has nothing to do with your problem.
Autorun CDs are made using a file called autorun.inf in the root of the CD.
You need to create this file first before you burn the CD.
Once a CD is burned, (and closed) you cannot make it autorun.
The steps and commands are drastically different depending on what types of
files you want to open. Some types of files, .exe for example, can be done
with a simple line of text in the .inf file.
Others, like PowerPoint presentations require more preperation.
If you can supply more details as to the kind of files you want to open, I
may be able to give you moer exect information.
