WIN XP locks up after a few minutes of inactivity

WIN XP locks up after a few minutes of inactivity.
If I restart, all works fine for as long as I am very frequently moving the
mouse or typing on the keyboard. If I leave it alone for a short time,
everything locks up. Moving the mouse or trying cntrl-alt-del does nothing.
Suggestions?

Who many minutes is "a few"? Is it always the same amount of time? If so, it sounds like your computer is doing something while it
is idle (not being used). It could be some kind of idle-time task or the screensaver. Check the screensaver (Control
Panel->Display->Screen Saver), and check the Windows Tasks (Control Panel->Scheduled Tasks).

There is nothing my scheduled tasks list except the icon to add a task. I
have finally turned the screen savers off (none). The lockup still happens.

Hello,

I am thinking you have "Screen Saver is secure" option enabled in the
Screen Properties -> Screen Saver tab.

Except that they disabled the screensaver and it still happens.
